Parent FAQ

Hello parents and potential new members! Joining a sorority is a big decision and we know you have questions, so we are here to answer the most frequently asked ones.

Will joining Sigma Kappa take away from my daughter's college education?

Absolutely not! Being a sister of Sigma Kappa opens you to a community of sisters who are in the same classes as you and always willing to help you figure out the latest pset or be your partner for in a group project. You also have access to upperclassmen who can help advise you on your major choice, personally recommend you to internships and research opportunities, and guide you to success at MIT.

What are the benefits of being in Sigma Kappa?

Not only does Sigma Kappa build life long friendships, but it really becomes a support system away from home. Our sisters are always there for each other, from helping one another through a tough class to getting a sister an interview at their dream company to just spending quality time together.

Sigma Kappa also provides many leadership and service opportunities. All of our sisters are able to give back not only to our National Philanthropies, but to our surrounding communities as well through volunteering in events such as the Walk to End Alzheimer's and the Boston Marathon.

Finally having as a member of Sigma Kappa you will find yourself surrounded by passionate, diverse, and amazing women who will be right by your side during your college career. The memories you make as a member of Sigma Kappa will last forever!

Tell me about your house!

We are lucky to have a beautiful Boston brownstone that can house 24 lucky sisters! It is located in Boston's premier Fenway district and is close to campus, shopping, local restaurants, and (of course) Fenway Park. We have a cleaning service and chef so that our sisters are always taken care of. Our house is frequently used for movie nights, study spots, and as a place for sisters to get together!
